What separates a good lubricant from an average one is decided long before it reaches a drum. It is decided by the base oil that goes into it, the additive chemistry that is built on top of that base, and the discipline of the plant that blends the two together.
Greyhound Lubricants does not own a refinery and does not pretend to. What we do is source deliberately — established international base oil producers, additive packages from recognised global suppliers, and blending partners operating to international standards — and then verify the result by batch.
Where our raw materials come from
- Base Oil Origins — Group I to Group III stocks sourced from established refineries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, selected for the duty rather than the price point.
- Additive Technology — detergent, dispersant, anti-wear and viscosity modifier chemistry from recognised international additive houses.
- Global Blending Facilities — multi-million-litre blending plants operating to international quality standards, with batch testing against claimed specifications.
- Global Network — the sourcing, blending and distribution footprint that ties it together.
Why sourcing is the whole story
Two products can carry the same viscosity grade and the same headline specification and still behave completely differently in service. The difference is almost always in the base oil quality and the additive treat rate — the things that do not appear on the front label. An inferior base oil oxidises sooner, thickens, and stops protecting long before the drain interval is up, which is how an oil that looked cheap becomes expensive.
This is also why we publish our sourcing rather than hiding behind a brand name. If you are specifying lubricants for a fleet or a plant, you are entitled to know what is actually in the drum, and to see the compliance and certification evidence behind the claims.

The commercial model is simple: international-standard inputs, blended to specification, sold at local prices.
